R\u00c9FLEXOLOGIE ET MASSOTH\u00c9RAPIE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00c0 quelques exceptions pr\u00e8s, la r\u00e9flexologie est accept\u00e9e par toutes les associations de massoth\u00e9rapeutes<\/u> qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises r\u00e9put\u00e9es, en tant que modalit\u00e9 compl\u00e9mentaire de la massoth\u00e9rapie<\/u>. Ce qui signifie qu’un th\u00e9rapeute doit d’abord apprendre une technique de base (su\u00e9dois, californien, shiatsu, etc.) et la r\u00e9flexologie est alors compl\u00e9mentaire. With no or few exceptions, reflexology is accepted by all reputable Quebec massage<\/a> associations as a complementary technique for massage<\/a> therapy, which means a therapist must first learn a core technique and reflexology is complementary. These associations typically recognize a training of 40 or 60 hours as sufficient, and their code of ethics and values would allow one of their members to offer a reflexology session if a client requested only to have reflexology work done on their feet and hands.<\/p>\n

Other Quebec associations recognize reflexology as a core\u00a0 modality, which means that it is considered a stand-alone modality whose training is sufficient in itself. These associations typically will look for a range of 450 – 1100 hours of training.<\/p>\n

REFLEXOLOGY AND NATUROTHERAPY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Most, if not all, naturotherapy associations recognize reflexology therapy as a core modality, and certainly all of them recognize it as a complementary modality with regards to calculating the minimum hours requirement.<\/p>\n

AQTN AND REFLEXOLOGY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the process of evaluating an application, we determine which designation is best suited by the applicant based on the number of hours of training, the modules incorporated into the training and the scope of practice. A 60 hour course in not equivalent to a 500 hour one.<\/p>\n

Whether reflexology is a an additional complementary skill for massage<\/a> therapy or a core one depends on the modules included in the training, skills and competencies. In 2020 and moving forward, with the upcoming rules regarding 1000 hours for massage therapy, this will likely change.<\/p>\n

THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND REFLEXOLOGY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The national occupational classification system by the Canadian government includes reflexology in a number of different categories.<\/p>\n
