Nous avons alors appris que le g\u00e9nome avait beaucoup moins de g\u00e8nes que pr\u00e9vu, mais aussi que la variation des g\u00e8nes \u00e9tait bien plus grande que pr\u00e9vu, avec plus de 3 millions de variations. Notre ph\u00e9notype &#8211; ce que nous exprimons \u00e0 travers nos g\u00e8nes &#8211; est le r\u00e9sultat de l&#8217;interaction de nos g\u00e8nes et de l&#8217;environnement. L&#8217;interaction des g\u00e8nes et de l&#8217;environnement se produit \u00e0 travers ce que nous appelons l&#8217;\u00e9pig\u00e9nome. Epi signifie simplement &#8221;au dessus de&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Un exemple pour illustrer comment cela fonctionne :<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Imaginons que votre bras repr\u00e9sente votre ADN, alors la manche sur votre bras est l&#8217;\u00e9pig\u00e9nome. L&#8217;\u00e9pig\u00e9nome est influenc\u00e9 par la fa\u00e7on dont nous vivons nos vies, y compris la nourriture que nous mangeons, nos niveaux de stress, comment nous prenons soin de nous-m\u00eames, etc. Notre \u00e9pig\u00e9nome est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 empreint de l&#8217;histoire de nos vies, de la naissance \u00e0 la mort, et la composition de l&#8217;\u00e9pig\u00e9nome est le r\u00e9sultat de notre g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, de notre lign\u00e9e et de notre environnement. Le stress chronique et une mauvaise sant\u00e9 sont bien associ\u00e9s au diab\u00e8tes, aux maladies cardiaques et \u00e0 l&#8217;hypertension art\u00e9rielle, pour ne nommer que quelques-uns des r\u00e9sultats d&#8217;une hygi\u00e8ne de vie inappropri\u00e9e.<\/li>\n<li>Nous savons que certains g\u00e8nes apparaissent plus sensibles \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9pig\u00e9n\u00e9tique que d&#8217;autres, et il est clair que ces g\u00e8nes peuvent \u00eatre marqu\u00e9s par l&#8217;environnement. Nous les voyons dans le diab\u00e8tes de type 2, les maladies cardiaques, les maladies auto-immunitaires, la maladie d&#8217;Alzheimer, les allergies, m\u00eame dans certains cancers. Toutes ces conditions m\u00e9dicales majeures peuvent \u00eatre influenc\u00e9es par des facteurs environnementaux, et la probabilit\u00e9 d&#8217;\u00eatre afflig\u00e9 par un de ces maux peut \u00eatre augment\u00e9e ou diminu\u00e9e par la fa\u00e7on dont nous vivons nos vies! Les th\u00e9rapies naturelles ont-elles un impact sur votre environnement (stress, anxi\u00e9t\u00e9, etc.)? Un nombre croissant d&#8217;\u00e9tudes scientifiques montrent que &#8230; eh bien, c&#8217;est le cas !<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>On June 26, 2000, President Clinton announced that the <em>International Human Genome Project<\/em> and <em>Celera Genomics Corporation<\/em> had completed an initial sequencing of the human genome. Among what was learned was that the genome had far fewer genes than anticipated, but the variation of the genes was far greater than anyone expected, with over 3 million variations. Our phenotype &#8211; what we express through our genes &#8211; such as how we look for example, is the result of the interaction of our genes and the environment. <strong>The interaction of genes and the environment occurs through what we call the epigenome<\/strong>. \u00a0\u00a0<em>Epi<\/em> simply means above.<\/p>\n<h3>An example to illustrate:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If your arm is your DNA, then the sleeve over your arm is the epigenome. The epigenome washes above the genes and is influenced by how we live our lives, including the food we eat, our stress levels, how we care for ourselves, etc. The sleeve results in certain genes being turned on and others off. Our epigenome is really a history of our lives from inception to death. Chronic stress and poor health are well associated with diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, to name but a few common health problems.<\/li>\n<li>We know that certain genes appear more epigenetically sensitive than others, and it is clear that these genes can be environmentally marked. We see them in Diabetes type 2, heart disease, autoimmune disease, Alzheimer&#8217;s disease, allergies even in some cancers. All of these major medical conditions can be influenced by environmental factors, and the probability of being afflicted by one can be increased or decreased by how we live our lives! Does natural therapies have an impact on your environment (stress, anxiety, etc.)?
