The fruit belongs to the same botanical family as the rose and the blackberry and began to be cultivated in England and France in about 1600. The name originates from &#8220;raspise&#8221; which means &#8220;a sweet rose-colored wine&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The super seedy fruit range in color from red, purple, gold or black in colour. The gold ones are the sweetest of them all. Each color berry has an individual composition of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, associated with many health benefits such as:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Boosts the immune system<\/strong><br \/>\nRaspberries are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients which are great in protecting the immune system and fight off diseases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Fights free radicals<\/strong><br \/>\nFree radicals lead to cell damage which can lead to tumor growth, Raspberries contain powerful antioxidants that work against free radicals, inhibiting tumor growth and decrease the risk of certain cancers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Support stable blood sugar<\/strong><br \/>\nRaspberries contain a lot of fiber, especially in the skin. Fiber is important to keep blood sugar stable,<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Supports healthy digestion<\/strong><br \/>\nAs well as the fiber content, raspberries also contain water which is both required to prevent constipation, maintain a healthy digestive tract and keep regularity.<\/p>\n<p>Raspberries can be enjoyed as a snack, a topping on desserts, cereals, yogurts, eaten with waffles, pancakes and added top some savory dishes.<\/p>\n<p>Raspberries should only be bought 2 days maximum before use. Ensure to choose berries that are fully ripe without being overly so. Select berries that are firm, plump, and deep in color. Avoid any that are soft or have signs of mold. If they are prepackaged in a container, make sure that they are not packed too tightly, since this may cause them to become crushed and damaged.<\/p>\n<p>Refrigerating raspberries is advised as this prolongs the nutrient content longer. They also freeze well and will keep for up to one year. If you choose this method, wash them gently and then pat dry them. Place singly on a tray and freeze them.
